We took part in the Climate Coalitions “Speak up! Week” of action by hosting a talk at St Bernard’s Church in Lingfield, Surrey. The talk was entitled “Saving our common home” and included audience participation in the form of an unrehearsed play by the children in the group, armed with lightsabers, oranges, giant stuffed toy lions in order to explain some complex ecological ideas to the adults.
As well as the talk and workshop (and homemade pizza), we also signed a letter to the local MP Sam Gyimah asking him to support the Climate Coalition’s campaign for the UK to sign up to zero net emissions before 2050. I met with Mr Gyimah the following day to deliver the signatures.
